When you feel stuck, finding a way forward can feel difficult
Perhaps worries are taking over, everyday demands feel relentless, or you’re tired of feeling that you’re never quite good enough or you don’t fit in. You may be struggling after a difficult experience or noticing the same patterns getting in the way of the life you want.
I offer a supportive and practical approach to help you understand your difficulties, reflect on what you want for yourself, challenge beliefs that keep you stuck and take action towards what matters to you. Together, we’ll work on skills you can put into practice to change how you respond to life’s challenges and help you feel better. You have the power to make meaningful changes; I’ll support you on that journey.

Hello, I’m Julie
I’m Julie Benteux, an accredited CBT–REBT counsellor with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.
Alongside my counselling practice, I bring over 20 years’ experience in the corporate world. I understand the pressures of demanding environments, and my experience as a foreigner in the UK has shaped my awareness of the challenges of finding your place in unfamiliar surroundings.
I’m deeply committed to helping people question what holds them back, develop lasting skills to support their emotional wellbeing, and make choices that reflect who they are.
A supportive and practical approach to change
You can expect me to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and take an active role in our work. I combine empathy with gentle, constructive challenge, helping you explore beliefs and patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
My main approach is Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), a practical form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Together, we look at how beliefs such as “I must always get things right” or “I need everyone’s approval” influence your feelings and actions, and aim to develop more flexible, helpful alternatives.
Our work is guided by your goals, with practical activities between sessions to help you apply what you learn. The aim is to build skills and confidence you can draw on independently, beyond therapy.
Benefits you can expect

Become your own therapist
When you feel stuck or overwhelmed, you can draw on your toolkit to question the beliefs that get in your way and take constructive action sooner.
Build lasting emotional resilience
You feel more confident in your ability to handle life’s challenges. Situations that once felt overwhelming feel more manageable, and you trust yourself to respond even when things are difficult.
Achieve your goals
You’re doing things that self-doubt or fear once held you back from. Your choices reflect what you want for yourself, and you feel more confident pursuing your goals without being driven by other people’s expectations.
Feel greater life satisfaction
Emotional difficulties take up less space in your life. You feel more engaged in the relationships, activities and ambitions that matter to you, with a greater sense of fulfilment in how you live each day.
The practical details
Sessions take place online through video calls and last 55 minutes. Each session costs £75, and we usually meet weekly.
I work with adults aged 18 and over, offering sessions in English or French.
Let’s talk about what brings you here
